Interventional Cardiology
Interventional cardiology features the latest in state-of-the-art technology and techniques to solve coronary, carotid, renal and lower limb artery obstructions. The professional team has the most important experience of the country in diagnosis, and is at the forefront in treatments of the extracardiac vascular disease, such as angioplasty of the carotid artery or endovascular treatment of the aorta.
Every year, 2,500 diagnostic and 1,000 therapeutic procedures are performed in its three catheterization laboratories. Some of the procedures are: coronary, peripheral, and carotid angioplasties; directional, extraction and rotational coronary atherectomies; coronary drug-eluting stents; infarction angioplasties; mitral and aortic valvuloplasties; treatment of aortic dissection and other aortic diseases; thoracic- and abdominal-aorta endoprosthesis for the treatment of aneurysms, and carotid angioplasty with distal protection. Clinical success and complication rates are comparable to those of the best hospitals in the world. The team participated in pioneering papers on coronary and carotid stents, distal protection systems for coronary angioplasty procedures, cryoplasty, and angiogenesis are worth a mention.
